About Me

A little about me. I’m an entrepreneur-geek hybrid with a wild imagination. My brain is like a blender and it enjoys splitting my collective brainpower between creativity and emerging technology in all aspects of my life. Yes I just referred to my brain as “it”. Don’t ask. I did say I have a wild imagination.

Without getting all nostalgic since the first time I got my hands on a computer i was pretty obsessed.

I started Digital Surgeons as a consultancy while I was an undergraduate at the University of Connecticut. After doubling in Communication Design and Management Information Systems I realized that I wouldn’t be satisfied just being on one side of the brain for a career.

I used to place out of computer programming classes cause I was pretty obsessed with writing code and building games. I mean doesn’t every programmer start out as a gamer? The heart of programming really is just a series of up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-b-a-start commands isn’t it?

See I’ve always been a geek!

I started out my career in information technology which spanned from building computers down to configuring and tweaking Cisco network devices for small and medium sized businesses.

Being a programmer and IT geek who practiced art as a hobby I decided it was about time I got started in the creative field. When i wasn’t messing with switches and routers or doing general IT support I started splitting my time between Adobe Products and writing code.

I joined a small design company who did work with a lot of music and entertainment clients and that was where the “hybrid” me was born. My boss of the time quickly realized that he didn’t need a designer and a programmer to serve his clients marketing needs. So when I wasn’t doing concert fliers and print collateral I was building and animating their websites. Naturally the programming part came easily to me and I started immersing myself more into the creative side of things. Some of the theory applied from school with relation to form and color but there were no real “digital” primers out there to clamp onto. Well not unless you count the stack of Adobe books I used to prop up my dual monitors.

With the web starting to evolve and more focus being put on doing business online my then side-business Digital Surgeons started picking up. Before I knew it I had to quit my job and hire people to get all the work done.

Flash Microsites and small promotional sites ended up turning into full fledged digital advertising campaigns and here I sit in 2010 updating my blog and pushing this out across the multitude of social networks I read and contribute to regularly.

I work with clients and brands you use and interact with on a daily basis and some you have never heard of.  I love thinking, creating and working with them to shape the way people interact with their brands no matter what their size or goals may be.
